This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use www.blackdownmtb.co.uk, how we use it, and the rights you have under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

Blackdown Mountain Bike Coaching provides mountain bike coaching across Surrey, West Sussex, and South West London.

For the purposes of data protection law, we are the "controller" of the personal data you provide to us.

The information we collect

We may collect and process the following data about you:

When you complete our contact form, book a session online, purchase a gift card, register for a member account, or otherwise correspond with us, you may provide your name, email address, telephone number, and details relevant to your coaching (such as riding experience or requirements). When you buy a session or gift card, payment is processed by our payment provider (see below); we do not store your full card details.

Information we collect automatically. When you visit the website, we (and our platform provider) may automatically collect technical data including your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, and referring website. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see our Cookies section below).

How we use your information

We use your personal data to:

  • comply with our legal and accounting obligations.

Where you have given consent, we may also send you marketing communications about our services. You can withdraw this consent at any time.

Legal bases for processing

We rely on the following lawful bases under UK GDPR:

  • Contract - to deliver the coaching, booking, and gift card services you request.

  • Consent - for optional marketing communications and non-essential cookies.

  • Legitimate interests - to respond to enquiries, maintain the security of our website, and improve our services, provided your rights do not override these interests.

  • Legal obligation - to meet accounting, tax, and other statutory requirements.

Our website platform and service providers

Our website is built and hosted on Wix.com. Wix collects and processes certain data on our behalf to enable the website to function, including bookings and payments. Wix stores data on secure servers and may transfer data outside the UK; where it does, appropriate safeguards are in place. You can review Wix's own privacy practices at www.wix.com/about/privacy.

We also use the following categories of third-party services:

  • Payment processing — card payments for bookings and gift cards are handled securely by our payment provider(s) [Wix Payments / Stripe - confirm]. We do not receive or store your complete card details.

  • Email - we use email to correspond with you and manage bookings.

  • Social media - we maintain an Instagram presence; interactions there are governed by that platform's own privacy policy.
